Pete's birthday is May the 3rd, he has always been a major influence - at the back of my thoughts. I remember Goodnight Irene (his cover of Leadbelly first issued in 1950. The original is here


The Clearwater Concert is a one night only concert event celebrating Pete Seeger's 90th Birthday, on Sunday, May 3, at 7PM, at Madison Square Garden. The concert event will benefit and raise awareness for Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, founded by Pete Seeger, which strives to preserve and protect the Hudson River. The evening, hosted by Clearwater, will focus on ensemble renditions of musical treasures inspired by Pete Seeger - the artists seem to match many of my heroes
