Reaction to M.I.A. at the Grammy Awards

M.I.A. at 51st Grammy AwardsTo be honest, I'd never heard of M.I.A. until the 51st Grammy Awards show. But her performance has got the Internet all abuzz. I'm still trying to figure out what I think about it.

On the one hand, I love to see women push the boundaries, you know make us think about what it means to be a woman. And I love to see strong pregnant women, my own mother likes to brag about how she worked through her pregnancies with my little brother and sister.

But on the other hand, I'm a child of the sixties, and back then a nine month pregnant woman was supposed to be some where laying down having pillows adjusted to make sure she is comfortable and not on stage at a music awards show rapping with some of the baddest of the bad boys.

I wanted to post some video of this performance, but it has all been removed from YouTube. Maybe later they will put it back up on some official channels. Below you will see a video of her performing her song Paper Planes live on the David Letterman Late Show.

I think the dress is excellent when you think of some of the maternity clothes you see.

I share your reservations about seeing someone so far pregnant - that maybe an age thing.

I note that MIA is a controversial figure - in the Tamil Tiger camp I think.
